Supporting Howard University Students
At Kappa Alpha Psi Defiant 27, we are dedicated to making a positive impact on the academic journeys of Howard University students. Based in Bowie, Maryland, our organization was established to support undergraduate members of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. at Howard University, especially those facing financial challenges that could prevent them from graduating.
Who We Are
We are the surviving members of the Defiant 27 (1966) pledge line of the Xi of Kappa. The 27 crossed the sands to Kappa on April 7th, 1966. Twenty of the twenty-seven are still alive. Seven of our line brothers have transitioned to the Chapter Invisible.

Our fund and the assistance that we provide is dedicated to the members of the 27 who have transitioned to the Chapter Invisible.
on the occasion of our 50th anniversary into Kappa Alpha Psi, we decided to come together to give back to the Fraternity.
The Kappa Alpha Psi Defiant 27 (1966) LLC Assistance Fund was incorporated on July 6, 2015. We obtained our 501(c)(3) IRS exemption status on June 30, 2018.
The Kappa Alpha Psi Defiant 27 (1966) LLC Assistance Fund was incorporated on July 6,2015. We obtained our 501 (C) (3) IRS exemption status on June 30, 2018. The Purpose of the Assistance Fund is to receive donations from individuals, corporations and foundations and any other legal person(s) including religious organizations or governmental agencies to form and maintain a fund or funds of money, real or personal property or any combination thereof and subject to the restrictions and limitations hereinafter set forth, to use and apply the whole or any part of the funds and assets received exclusively for charitable scientific or educational purposes either directly or by contributions for students who are members of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity lnc. enrolled in classes at Howard university of Washington D.C.
Payments for students will only be made to defray/liquidate unpaid costs that would preclude a student from graduating from the University and payments can only be made directly to the university.
Payments can only be made for students who are enrolled in the University, who are candidates for graduation and members of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. students may be candidates for undergraduate or graduate degrees.
Maximum payment: Qualified applicants are only eligible to receive a maximum one-time payment. The maximum payment cannot exceed $300.00 Dollars.
If the amount due is less than $300.00 dollars, the Assistance Fund will only pay up to the maximum amount due.
The Fund reserves the right to pay less than the total amount due.
